Aldi had gekocht. Toen ze het stuk fruit in haar mond had, proefde ze iets vreemds. Emma, de vrouw in kwestie, keek naar de appel en maakte direct een foto.
Ze deelde deze in de Facebook-groep ALDI Mums om anderen te waarschuwen. De zaden van haar Pink Lady-appel waren van binnen ontkiemd.
Op de foto is een half opgegeten appel te zien met een lange witte stengel die uit een van de zaden komt.

Op het eerste gezicht lijkt het op een worm, maar nader onderzoek wees uit dat het iets anders was. Emma vertelde dat ze de appel op woensdag had gekocht.
De reacties van groepsleden variëren van afschuw tot humor. Sommigen vinden het ranzig, terwijl anderen er een kans in zien. “Kweek je eigen appelboom, dan hoef je ze nooit meer te kopen,” suggereerde iemand.
Er waren ook vragen over hoe dit kon gebeuren. Een gebruiker legde uit dat appels vaak lang bewaard worden.
“Appels worden in mei geplukt en liggen dan het hele jaar door in een koelopslag. Dus dit zouden appels kunnen zijn die vorig jaar geoogst zijn.”
Een ander voegde daaraan toe: “Dit laat je echt afvragen hoe oud ze zijn tegen de tijd dat we ze kopen.”
